Outreach
Outreach for July
In July, we focus on the environment.
Breakfast program
How have you tolerated the heat and torrential rains in the last few weeks? Do you have air
conditioning, a secure roof, dry clothing? Imagine how it is for our siblings in Christ whose
shelter is a tent, or a bush, or a doorway. Your donations of clothing – underwear, socks, T-shirts
and footwear – are so important to those who join us for breakfast. Please consider bringing in
gently used towels, rain ponchos, umbrellas, nylon jackets with hoods – which will provide some
relief from the wet weather.
We continue to provide around 130 meals on the Saturdays when we serve breakfast. The hot
porridge is a hit regardless of the outside temperature and the ASH provides a cool refuge from
the hot sun while enjoying a coffee and muffin. Come and join us – meet friends who come on a
regular basis or who are here for the first time. We are pretty sure you will leave smiling and
feeling better than when you arrived!
Our next breakfast is this Saturday July 20th from 9 – 10:30 am. All are welcome!
St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is Sunday, 11th August.
Fundraising and Social
Really early notice: St. Jude’s Golf and Dinner Social. Please save this date- Friday,
September 20th
for 9 holes of golf at Cobble Hills GC. First tee times will be about 4:30 pm.
After golf, we will move to a restaurant in London for dinner at about 7 pm. Even if you don’t
golf, please feel free to join us for dinner! We will provide the restaurant location in
September.
Gay Pride Parade, a message from Dennis and Joanne Johns.
As mentioned on Sunday, as the Proud Anglicans have decided to take a hiatus from walking in
the parade this year, so St. Jude’s/St. Alban’s will do so as well.
Dennis and I suggest supporting the parade with our presence in a different way. For everyone
interested, please join us at the corner of Waterloo and Dufferin on the lawn at Central High
School at 11;30 to support the parade that way. Bring chairs.
We are not sure about parking. We would usually recommend Central High School’s parking
lot, but we are not sure if it will be available.
After the parade, we can walk through the park to see some of the displays, and, for anyone
really thirsty, if interested, we can make a visit to Scot’s Corner for a beverage.
Please consider joining us. It is a wonderfully joyous event so bring your biggest smiles!
Children are very welcome.
