Outreach

Outreach for January.
Socks Share:
We are gathering new socks and underwear for all ages. Suggestion for socks is those with some
wool that last longer than white cotton. Due to need and allergies to wool any donation is
thankfully received. Donations will be blessed during our service.
These will be shared with Unity Project, St. Joseph’s House with CCLC and My Sisters Place.
With a sincere thank-you for helping members of our community.

St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is Sunday 9th February.

Breakfast program
The next breakfast day is this Saturday, 18th January.
Outstanding News to start the New Year! The generosity of the St. Jude’s family, their families
and friends contributed $6400 to the program in December – some for Christmas gifts, the rest
for our ongoing work. Many thanks to Sydney Siu for the donation of $784, raised through his
very successful photo exhibit.
This amazing shower of support means we can continue with this work to the standard we have
set – and a good thing it is as we served 140 breakfasts last Saturday. To celebrate the new year,
we had cinnamon buns baked by the team and warm apple cider. One new man spent 2 hours to
come by bus from Commissioners and Wharncliffe as he had just heard about our program. We
are so glad to be able to offer warm clothing and footwear – which we can do as you respond to
our requests for specific items in a particular size. Some of our regular friends have been absent
for a few weeks – one for sure is in hospital, and we pray that the others are safe and hopefully
have warm shelter and food through these rough January days. Please keep them in your prayers.
We served a total of 3124 breakfasts in 2024, a significant increase of 636 over the 2,488 served
in 2023.

Fundraising and Social

An invitation. We invite you to “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” on January 18th, a potluck
dinner and great evening of conversation and story telling with your parish friends, and perhaps
people at church you have not met yet.
Format- a parish family/person hosts 4-8 other parish members in their home. No one knows who
will be showing up until they arrive! The host/hostess provides 1) hors d’oeuvres, and the other 3
individuals/couples who are guests supply either 2) salad and vegetables or 3) main course
or 4) dessert. All participants supply their own alcoholic drinks. Good jokes are always
welcome!.

Men’s Lunch correction, it is on January 21st at the Alibi Roadhouse, at 12:30 PM.
