Outreach
Outreach for February concentrates on St. Paul’s Food Bank and our Breakfast Program.
St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is Sunday, 9th March.
The Fairbairns, who faithfully take our gifts to the cathedral each month, will be away in March,
and so are asking for a volunteer(s) to take their place for that month. Please contact Kathy in the
office if you can help. That will be for Monday 10th March.
Breakfast Program
The team served 146 breakfasts this past Saturday. Despite the cold and snowy weather,
breakfast friends arrived from around the city to share conversations with one another, enjoy a
bowl of porridge and a grilled cheese and ham sandwich. Your donations of warm clothing and
footwear are making a significant difference to those in need during this “Canadian winter”.
Did you know that these friends also appreciate puzzles, books of games like Sudoku and
Crosswords and craft materials for adults and children?
We’ll be rolling out a new breakfast burrito for our next breakfast on March 1st
between 9 and10:30 am. Please join us for coffee to see how your donations make a difference
in the lives of those who join us.
Fundraising and Social
It’s time again for St. Jude’s Trivia Night- March 1st, 7 pm. Teams of 6-8 people are welcome
for a night of fun, as they engage the trivia portion of their brains to answer 100 diverse
questions. If you wish to come, but don’t have a full team, please sign up and we will add others
to your group if they are available. Tickets cost $ 20 per person, and are available from Derek
Shadlock and David Belford. Snacks will be provided. There will be a cash bar selling wine and
beer. If you have any questions, please contact the office at 519-660-6198.
The day before Ash Wednesday is Shrove Tuesday when we shall have our
annual Pancake Supper for the community, 5 – 7.00 pm. As usual by freewill donation, and
hosted by the Parish Council members, but extra volunteer help is always needed and welcome.
Speak to Bryan Smith if you can help.
Learning Together
Lenten series. Fr. Kevin will be leading a discussion series on three Tuesdays in Lent,
(18th and 25th March, and 1st April), about sharing our faith.
Diocese of Huron Diocesan Council Highlights (from February 5th) have been posted
in the Narthex. Situated on the bulletin board next to the main sanctuary entrance. This is a
new communication initiative to update the whole diocese on highlights following each Diocesan
Council meeting. As there is information about Bishops Todd’s vision plan “Turning to Grace”
accepted at Synod church members should avail themselves of this information.
Let’s Celebrate
Congratulations to Mr. And Mrs. B., who celebrate their wedding anniversary on 18th
February!
