Welcome to Rev. Canon June Hough! – We extend a warm welcome to June Hough who is celebrating and preaching at 8:30 & 10:00 am. June is well-loved at St. Jude’s and we are delighted that she is here in Father Kevin’s absence today.

Sunday’s Message – The sermon on Sunday is the third in a six-week preaching series called Learning to Live Free: Six Stories from the Wilderness, based on the passages from Exodus designated by the Revised Common Lectionary. In today’s passage, the people of Israel quarreled with Moses. Moses strikes a rock and water comes out.

This month we continue to support St. Paul’s food bank, and our own breakfast program.
St. Paul's Foodbank
Our next Sunday for donations to St. Paul’s Food Bank is Sunday 11th October. Don’t forget, you can bring things to the church any day, not just Sunday. We did quite well last Sunday. Thanks, everybody!
Breakfast Program:
We served 126 meals last Saturday morning. Our next community breakfast is Saturday, October 3rd from 9 - 10:30 am. All are welcome!

Our Run/Walk fundraiser with St. John the Evangelist is now only 3 1/2 weeks away on Sunday October 18th. The Canada Helps website is now active so go ahead and register yourself or your team. Go to our St. Jude’s website, click on Give and the on the Run / Walk icon. Pledges can also be recorded on a paper pledge sheet and brought to St. John’s on the day of the event. The pledge sheets are on the table in the Narthex. We need volunteers to help with this event! ACW has a few rhubarb pies to sell. The cost is $12. Many thanks to our pie makers and rhubarb growers for your contributions. Contact Glenda through the office at 519-660-6198 or stjudeslondon@diohuron.org to purchase a pie.
Pig Roast, this Saturday and tickets are available from the office. Dinner includes potatoes, veggies, coleslaw and homemade pie. Tickets are $25.00.

Choir. Christina invites anyone interested in singing to join the choir - you don’t have to be a trained musician or have special music knowledge, just a love of singing and appreciation of the special ministry that a church choir provides. Practices are on Thursday evenings, and have already begun - just come along and join in. If you are unable to commit to a longer term, you could join the festival choir that is put together for a single purpose, and is thus a limited commitment. The next one, of course, will be for the special Christmas music.
Welcome to Newcomers! – If you’re new to St. Jude’s in the past year, you’re invited to a reception on October 19th at 7:00 pm at the church for newcomers to the parish. We’ll enjoy refreshments, meet new friends, and learn a bit more about St. Jude’s. We’ll email some details in advance. Speak to Father Kevin if you have questions.

Legacy Evening – Everyone is invited to a Legacy Evening on October 29th at 7:00 pm. We will enjoy refreshments, unveil a piece of art from the estate of Myfanwy Matthews, hear vocal music from our choir, and welcome Michelle Hauser from the Anglican Foundation who will talk about planned giving.

Thanksgiving Eucharist for Seniors: Oct 15 – On Thursday, October 15th at 2:00 pm, St. Jude’s will host a celebration of Holy Eucharist for any elderly people who find it difficult to get to church on Sundays. The service will feature traditional, familiar Thanksgiving hymns and will be followed by a festive tea. Volunteers are needed to assist with the tea.

Learning Together

Anglican by Design (or Accident) – Plan to attend a one-hour introduction to Anglicanism led by Father Kevin after the 10:00 am service on Sunday, October 4th. This session may be helpful to lifelong Anglicans and even those surprised to have been embraced by this curious tradition of the Church. Learn about its history, governance and practices. Bring questions!

The Pilgrim Course –Sign up for one or all six-session courses led by Father Kevin, Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm. Explore the Creeds (starting Oct 6th – in person), the Eucharist (Nov 17 – online), and then two more courses in the new year. Make your spiritual health a priority! Sign-up sheets for the Creeds course are in the narthex. Space is limited!
