  • Bring in depleted batteries and CFL light bulbs to be disposed of properly
  • Invite kids to sign a Care-for-Creation Pledge Card this month
  • Take note of the Creation Care Tips in this leaflet each week
  • Grounds clean-up (“Grubby Day”) at the church on April 25th
  • A Stewardship Moment during our 10:00 am service on April 26th will emphasis environmental responsibility

Today’s Creation Care Tip - If you have no special plans for Earth Day, this April 22, no worries. Practice these tips with family and friends:

Immerse yourself in nature’s beauty. Go outside and look for wildflowers and look for spring’s signs of returning life

Plant a plant and an idea. Plant something outside or inside for people or pollinators (birds, bees, butterflies). Talk about tending God’s garden
Gift some natural beauty. Pick up a bouquet from a grocery or other store and give it to someone you love
Care for wildlife. Wildlife needs humans to ensure they too can flourish. Learn about organizations dedicated to their protection
Care for forests. Donate to organizations that plant and conserve trees
Pick up litter.  Wear gloves, bag trash, photograph it, and spread the story

Pick up the phone.  Contact (also by email, or letter) those who can bring transformation through government or corporation. Identify yourself as a person of faith and a constituent, and speak up for what needs to be done.
Pray with thanksgiving for God’s good gifts. Pray for the injustices done to all of God’s creation to stop. Pray with persistence, trusting God to be at work. Pray for guidance. Work prayerfully as you are called and led. For more ideas, see this resource from the United Methodist Church in the USA: www.umcreationjustice.org

Learning Together

Anglican Fellowship of Prayer The Bishop of Huron’s conference will be at St. Jude’s on Saturday 2nd May, 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, with Bishop Todd as guest speaker. “Chapter 29: The Church That Easter Built” – Through the Easter season, a five-week preaching series comes to us from the New Testament’s Book of Acts. The series develops Scripture’s witness that the Church is a living force sent into the world by Jesus. The Book of Acts contains 28 chapters, so we may think of ourselves as the disciples of Chapter 29. These messages from Father Kevin will echo former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams who said, “The Church exists because something has happened – Jesus is alive.” Today’s message is, “Cut the Heart” (Acts 2:37).

Streams of Grace: Reflections on Spiritual Formation – This series of online reflections is posted by Father Kevin each Wednesday on St. Jude’s Facebook page. In this six-part series we acknowledge that Christian spiritual formation has never been shaped by a single path alone. Over the centuries, the Church has returned again and again to at least six practices that renew its life in seasons of need. Together they form a richer, deeper vision of discipleship – one that calls believers to love God fully, serve others faithfully, and be transformed into the likeness of Christ. A request – as you view each reflection on Facebook please hit “like” and “share.” Spread the word.

Let's Celebrate
