Prayer and Pastoral Care

Cycle of Prayer for June Treasure – Safeguard and Renew the Earth As Christians we are called to “safeguard the integrity of creation”. Our world is a gift from God. We bear the responsibility for caring for the world and the Earth’s resources.

Prayer: Lord, you came into our lives to redeem all that is good, guide us in our turn to renew and sustain the life of your creation. Let your glory fill this place. Let your glory fill this world! Rest in PeaceGeorge Floyd. May the soul of George find rest eternal and rise in Glory, and the friends and family of George find strength and comfort as they mourn.

Pray for – a world in crisis.  The death of Mr. Floyd, has brought to light the racism, inequality, and lack of social justice that is rampant in our world. We ask that his death serve as a catalyst to see these issues addressed so all humans will be treated like the loved children of God. May protests be nonviolent and respect the dignity of all. Let the healing begin.

Pray for – all persons affected or otherwise impacted by COVID 19. May COVID protocols be used during nonviolent protests to lessen further exacerbation of this virus.

Pray for – our Priest Bill and our Bishop Todd as they offer leadership and spiritual support during this challenging time.

Outreach

Give blood! Blood donor clinics at St. Jude’s are beginning again, and there will be a clinic on Saturday 13th June, 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. Even, perhaps especially, in these days of Covid19, blood is still urgently needed, so sign up on line for your appointment or call Canada Blood Services. 1-888-236-6283 https://blood.ca/en/blood/donor-centre-hours-locations

St. John’s Hospitality Dinners. St. Jude’s is serving the take out dinner at St. John the Evangelist on Saturday June 13th from 3 to 7.00 pm. Please let Glenda Hayward know if you are available to help that evening. 519-951-8154 or [email protected]

Community Breakfast Update. Thank you to those who have offered to help with the community breakfasts! We now know that a take-out breakfast will be the usual until September. We would like to continue serving on the first and third Saturday each month as many programs are not operating. How can you help? Volunteers are needed for baking muffins, prepping the bags on Fridays, or passing out the bags on Saturday morning. For volunteers working at the church, we are mindful of everyone’s health so you should be under 70 years of age, off chemotherapy for one year, and not living with anyone at risk or with any infections. Another way to help is to contribute unscented soaps and other hygiene items including razors, shaving cream and deodorants for guests. Thanks to all for your financial support that makes it possible to continue with this important outreach ministry! Contact: Glenda Hayward 519-951-8154 or [email protected] The next breakfast is this Saturday, 6th June, 9.00 – 10.30 am, take out only of course.

Rhubarb! Do you happen to have rhubarb that you aren’t using at this time? The ACW pie makers are happy to take it off your hands! Just wash, cut into pieces and if possible, write the volume on the freezer bag. Rhubarb can be dropped off at the office Monday to Friday from 9 am – 1 pm. Thank you – we hope to be making and selling the pies in the not too distant future.

Let’s Celebrate!!
