Outreach for June
Men’s Month
Community Breakfast – June 29th.
Strawberries for St. Jude’s: Financial donations appreciated to provide fresh strawberries for the
community breakfast closest to Canada Day (29th)
National Indigenous Day – June 21st.
Men’s Mission: providing emergency shelter for an individual or family, or caring for those
with mental health needs, Mission Services of London is there with a message of hope through
faith serving those who struggle with poverty and homelessness. They provide food, shelter,
clothing, crisis intervention and rehabilitation. Needs: gloves, toiletries, razors, underwear,
wallets.
Unity Project: working to stabilize people in their moment of crisis and to engage them in their
own process toward stability while utilizing all available community resources. Housing (with
support) is the solution to homelessness and we will continue to develop our program around
this outcome for participants. Needs: socks, bus tickets, t-shirts, small backpacks, razors,
underwear, coffee mugs.

St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is Sunday, 14th July.

Breakfast program
After quieter day at the beginning of the month, we served 154 breakfasts this past Saturday.
This ties our record number served in late May. All this was done without the use of the large
kitchen fridge. Kudos to the Breakfast leaders Deb Bouris and Sheila Dempster, along with our
invaluable Custodian Deb Prothero, for your creative thinking and quick adjustment.
We continue to see new faces each week including students from Fanshawe – many of whom are
newcomers to Canada. One criticism of our program has been that we are too generous and
shouldn’t give “extra” breakfasts to go to some friends. We review the menu and bag contents on
a regular basis. To date, thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide food that may
last a couple of days- one of our goals since the beginning of COVID. We do check in as to who
the recipients are for the additional bag (s) -they are often children, shut-in neighbours, or
spouses that aren’t well.
For our wish list this week, we continue to need quantities of: men’s disposable razors,
deodorant, shampoo, pull ups size M, body wash, toothpaste, menstrual pads. Thank you and
please use the hand sanitizers.
We are collecting money for the strawberries which we serve on the Canada Day weekend.
Many thanks to all who have donated clothing, household items.
The next breakfast is Saturday, 29th June; all are welcome!
