They will appreciate cereal , pasta noodles , pasta Sauce , baked beans , tuna , granola bars,
canned vegetables, canned soup, used containers, used grocery bags, egg cartons.
Laura comments on the “useful tips” list in last week’s Update:
The tips are very good, however we rely on St Paul’s to tell us what their current needs are.
I contact the coordinator on a monthly basis and forward the list for the Update newsletter.
St Paul’s purchases other items to complement our donations, and other churches donate as well.

Breakfast program
This past weekend we served 125 breakfasts. Last year on the long weekend, we served 87. As
usual, a few friends were waiting for us to open the door at 7:45 am knowing that breakfast
wouldn’t be served until 9 am. While they waited, some took a look at the clothing and
household items on display; others sat and visited with friends: and some played cards. What a
privilege that St. Jude’s can offer this safe and welcoming haven for those in our community.
Some programmes have cut back, face challenges recruiting volunteers, and are closing due to
the rising costs of food. With these closures, we expect to see a continued rise in our numbers
with the associated costs. Thank you for your ongoing financial support of this vital ministry –
every looney helps!
Our next breakfast is Saturday August 17th from 9 – 10:30 am. All are welcome!

Fundraising and Social

FundScrip. Rick says that the cards are not available this week because of the August Civic
holiday Monday, so he expects to have them for the following Sunday, 17th
August, in the Narthex after the service.

Also, don’t forget the “Nine and Dine” golf event in September.

ACW news
Upcoming National Meeting of the Diocesan ACW Presidents.
The Diocese of Huron ACW Council is hosting the National ACW Presidents’ Conference this
year in September in Stratford, at St. James Anglican Church. This is a gathering of the ACW
Diocesan Presidents from all over Canada.
A program of special events has been organized to entertain the Presidents. These events are
open to anyone within the Diocese, so you do not have to have an active ACW group within your
church to be included. We gladly welcome anyone who is interested in attending. All events are
being held at St. James Anglican Church, 41 Mornington St., Stratford. More details coming
soon. See the poster in the Narthex.
