Breakfast program
Thank you! To our generous donors, our volunteers, our supportive families, friends and
colleagues. Thank you for making it possible that we can provide some food, clothing, soap,
toilet paper to those who visit our breakfast program a couple of times each month. AND yet
– this is a time when we are called to do more – as individuals and as a community. In London,
300 – 400 people are living unhoused, 7000 are listed for supportive housing – a wait of about 10
years.
We are in the midst of a federal election campaign and affordable housing is a hot topic. The
question – affordable for whom? Those who can’t afford a million dollar duplex in Toronto or
those whose minimum wage job doesn’t cover the rent on a bachelor apartment, let alone meet
food and other expenses? Take a look at the London Cares website to see how supportive
housing can make a difference to those in need. Discuss these ideas with your friends and
neighbours. Ask the candidates who come to your door about their ideas for providing for the
unhoused and under housed people in our community. Raise the issue at the all candidates
meeting in your riding. There are solutions to housing – we just need to get a plan and get to work
together!
Our next breakfast is this Saturday, April 5th, from 9 – 10:30 am.

FundScrip. Rick will be in the Narthex this Sunday between the services to take your orders for
