Outreach
In May the Focus is on Women.
My Sister’s Place: Is many things to the 100 plus women who walk through its doors each day.
It is Safety. It is Support. It is Sisterhood. Women who access My Sisters’ Place range in age
from 16 – 70 and come from diverse backgrounds. Most have experienced abuse, trauma, and
isolation. More than 80% are dealing with mental health challenges.
Needs: panties (all sizes), hats/mittens, small birthday gifts, hairbrushes, feminine hygiene
products; craft items, wool, jewelry.
Anova: formerly Women’s Community House (WCH) and Sexual Assault Centre London
(SACL). Anova provides safe places, shelter, support, counselling, and resources for abused
women, their children, and all oppressed individuals to find a new start. Provides enhanced
sexual violence and prevention work for youth, and an integrated 24-hour crisis and support line.
Needs: pajamas, slippers, coloring books and crayons, makeup, sheets, craft items, wool.
St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is Sunday June 8th, Their needs continue to
be pasta sauce , pasta noodles , canned meat , canned soup, pork & beans, peanut butter or
jam, mac & cheese, toilet paper, granola bars or oatmeal for kids.
Now they especially appreciate receiving fresh produce – apples, oranges, vegetables.
Breakfast Program
The warmer weather has arrived and it feels great to put away heavy winter coats and sweaters.
The breakfast team has changed over the clothing and footwear to match the season. While we
have lots of clothing for women, we can always use clothing for men in all sizes, light weight
jackets, tee shirts, pants and shorts. Please keep our guests and friends in mind as you do your
spring cleanup.
With the long weekend coming, we’ll be guessing as to the number of meals we will serve this
Saturday- often down a bit from our usual numbers. Please come and visit with those who come
for breakfast and fellowship – this Saturday from 9 – 10:30 am. All are most welcome!
Volunteer driver(s) needed St. Jude’s Outreach supports a summer day camp snack
program here in the Northeast. Drivers are needed to pick up and deliver the snacks to the
camps on 1 or 2 Monday mornings through out the summer. Time involved is 2.5 – 3 hours. We
can also use a couple of volunteers at the prep site to get snacks ready – time is likely about an
hour. With questions or to volunteer, please contact the office at 519-660-6198.
Fundraising and Social
