Outreach

During April we concentrate on the environment, making sure to recycle, reuse,
compost as much as possible, and make full use of London’s excellent Green Bin program.

Breakfast program
138 breakfasts were served this past Saturday. Friends and guests arrived early to beat the rain –
hard to do when it rained harder as the morning went on. The porridge and hot chocolate were
appreciated given the weather, as was our warm dry hall. Items that seem to go quickly include
books, recent magazines, puzzle books like Sudoku and Crosswords. We thank you for all your
donations to this ministry and pray that your generosity continues into the future as the need in
our community is not receding.
Please join us at the next breakfast on Easter Saturday, April 19th, from 9 am to 10:30 am.

St. Paul’s Food Bank. Our next Food Bank Sunday is this Sunday, 13th April. They always
appreciate Pasta Sauce, Pasta noodles , Canned Meat, Canned Soup, pork & beans, peanut butter
or jam, mac & cheese, toilet papers, granola bars or oatmeal for kids, plus it would be much
appreciated if we could supply some fresh stuff – potatoes, apples, veggies, etc..

Historical note:
On Sunday Fr. Kevin drew our attention to our stained glass windows, noting that they are
unusual in that they combine clear glass panels with the stained glass. Visitors have often
commented on this not usual format, and have been told that it was intentional and the idea of
St. Jude’s longest serving incumbent, the Rev’d Lloyd Cracknell. As he would put it, the clear
panels were there to let God’s light in, and Fr. Kevin expanded on that by saying they were a
reminder of our place and mission in the world outside the church. One of the early windows
was dedicated to the memory of Lloyd Cracknell’s first wife, who died tragically at a young age.

Let’s Celebrate
