Fundraising and Social
Dates to remember:
This Saturday, January 31st, 2026, 7 pm- St. Jude’s annual Trivia night social and fundraiser.
Plan to come and invite your friends! You don’t need to bring a whole team- singles, couples and
small groups are welcome- we will add you to a 6-8 person team that evening. You will explore
the breadth and depth of trivia through 100 questions. Multiple-choice answers will be provided
for most. Guaranteed head scratchers and laughs! On a team, it is likely someone has an answer!
And -there is fun in the discussion! $20 per person. Snacks will be served and a cash bar will be
available. To register, please contact the office at stjudeslondon@diohuron.org
“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” returns on February 14th, 2026. As in past
years, parishioners are invited to sign up for in-home group potluck dinners (6-8 people), with
none of the participants knowing in advance whose home they will be going to or who will show
up. A great evening to socialize with friends you know well and also people you want to get to
know better. Always an evening of fellowship, great food, great stories and laughs.
Sign up sheets will be available in the Narthex in mid-January. For more information, please
contact Derek Shadlock at stjudeslondon@diohuron.org
And one More Date! Pancake Tuesday- February 17th, 5-7 pm.
InDwell and the Hallelujah Chorus – Next week, Ralph Thorn, who built the organ at St. Jude’s, will play Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus at the end of the 10:00 am service. Between now and then, you can “buy” measures of the Hallelujah Chorus for $25 each… 150 measures x $25 = $3,750. This is equivalent to the cost to furnish one apartment in a facility being built by Indwell in London. As a treat, Ralph will also accompany Christina Willatt as she sings an aria during the service.
Learning Together
Bishop’s Visit – Our diocesan bishop, Todd Townshend, will preside and preach at St. Jude’s 10:00 am service next Sunday, Feb 8th. Bishop Todd is the spiritual leader of the Anglican diocese of Huron that spans southwestern Ontario, from Windsor in the west, to Kitchener-Waterloo in the east, and north to Tobermory.
Bring a Loved One Sunday – February 15 – On this Sunday – so close to Valentine’s Day – everyone is invited to bring a loved one to church. At our 10:00 a.m. service, we will welcome Sophia and Imogene Dencev (Fr. Kevin’s nieces), joined by Christina Willatt, who will bless us with violin, cello and piano. Come, worship together, and celebrate love!
Ash Wednesday – On Feb 18th, we will gather at church at 7:30 p.m. to begin the season of Lent with Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes. Between now and Feb 17th, please bring your palm crosses from last year to the church and put them in the basket in the narthex so they can become ashes for Ash Wednesday.
Pilgrim Course: The Commandments – This next series of six sessions will run on Tuesdays, Feb 24 to Mar 31, online from 7:00-8:30 pm. We’ve had 18 people registered for the current course with space for 20. Please speak to Father Kevin to register. Cost: $20.
Lenten Series – God on Mute – On Sundays, March 1st, 8th, and 15th you are invited to gather in the St. Alban Room from 11:45-12:45 to reflect on questions related to unanswered prayer. Themes will be drawn from Maundy Thursday (“How can I get through this?”), Good Friday (“Why don’t my prayers work?”), and Holy Saturday (“Where is God when heaven is silent?”). Led by Father Kevin.
“The Heart Sees Further” –The current series in our weekly Facebook reflections unearths a kernel of truth from each of the first five books of the Bible with a corresponding life application. The series is called Five Foundations: Finding Gospel Truths from the Pentateuch.
