Readings for Sunday 8th February, Epiphany 5.
Psalm 112.1-9,10
Reading: Isaiah 58.1-9b
Gospel: Matthew 5.13-20
Psalm response: “Happy are they who have given to the poor. Hallelujah!”
Bishop Todd Townshend – As our chief pastor and shepherd, Bishop Todd comes to the 10:00 service today as a sign of our unity in the wider Church and of our communion with the diocesan family. Bishop Todd will preside at Holy Eucharist and preach the Word of God. His visit is an occasion of grace for our parish as he offers pastoral encouragement and prayer in the life and mission we share. Bishop Todd is the spiritual leader of the Diocese of Huron spanning S.W. Ontario, from Windsor, to Kitchener-Waterloo, and north to Tobermory. Please welcome him!
We also welcome Ralph Thorn! – Ralph was the music director at St. Jude’s and oversaw the building of the organ here in the mid-1990s. Ralph will play G.F. Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus as a postlude at the 10:00 am service. Recently, parishioners have “purchased” bars of the Hallelujah Chorus to raise $3,750 – equivalent to the cost to furnish one apartment in a facility for those at risk, being built by Indwell in London. We have “oversold” the composition! Hallelujah for that!! We warmly welcome Ralph. As a treat, he will also accompany Christina Willatt as she sings an aria, Panis Angelicus by César Franck, after Communion.

Dates to remember:
“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” returns on February 14th, 2026. As in past years,
parishioners are invited to sign up for in-home group potluck dinners (6-8 people), with none of
the participants knowing in advance whose home they will be going to or who will show up. A
great evening to socialize with friends you know well and also people you want to get to know
better. Always an evening of fellowship, great food, great stories and laughs.
Sign up sheets will be available in the Narthex on Sunday. For more information, please contact
Derek Shadlock through the office at stjudeslondon@diohuron.org
Another Date! Pancake Tuesday– February 17th, 5-7 pm
Bring a Loved One! “Feel the Love” – February 15 – Next Sunday – so close to Valentine’s Day – everyone is invited to bring a loved one to church. Ash Wednesday – On Feb 18th, we will gather at church at 7:30 pm to begin the season of Lent with Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes. Between now and Feb 17th, please bring your palm crosses from last year to the church and put them in the basket in the narthex so they can become ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Kevin using video tools from 24/7 Prayer in the U.K.
