“Chapter 29: The Church That Easter Built” – Today, we begin a new, five-week preaching series for the Easter season. Based on readings from the New Testament’s Book of Acts, the series develops Scripture’s witness that the Church is a living force sent into the world by Jesus. The Book of Acts contains 28 chapters, so we may think of ourselves as the disciples of Chapter 29. These messages from Father Kevin will echo former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams who said in his book Being the Church that, “the Church exists because something has happened – Jesus is alive.”
Streams of Grace: Reflections on Spiritual Formation – A new series began Wednesday on St. Jude’s Facebook page. Each week, Father Kevin offers a reflection under the banner, The Heart Sees Further. In this six-part series we acknowledge that Christian spiritual formation has never been shaped by a single path alone. Across the centuries, the Church has returned again and again to practices and convictions that renew its life in seasons of need. These reflections explore six enduring traditions within the Christian faith: contemplative prayer, holiness of life, charismatic openness to the Spirit, social justice, evangelical witness, and incarnational living. Each tradition offers a distinct gift, yet none stands alone. Together they form a richer, deeper vision of discipleship – one that calls believers to love God fully, serve others faithfully, and be transformed into the likeness of Christ.

Today’s Creation Care Tip – Drought affects all of us. Treat water as sacred. Avoid wasting it. Don’t let water run when brushing teeth, loading the dishwasher, cleaning vegetables, getting ready to shower. Little things we can do factor into dealing with the big changes of a shifting climate. In a rainy month like April, it’s easy to forget the long dry spells caused by climate change. So, plan ahead. Look for ways to conserve water: set up a rain barrel, plant tea bags with your flowers and veggies to hold moisture longer, and use leftover pet water for the plants. Inside, fix leaks, add a low-flush toilet, and install a fine-spray shower head. For more ideas, see this resource from the United Methodist Church in the USA: www.umcreationjustice.org
